This remarkable achievement places Aldine ISD among the top 1.3% of all visual art programs in the state, solidifying its position as a leader in arts education.

Aldine ISD's unwavering dedication to providing a well-rounded education that integrates a robust visual arts curriculum has been the driving force behind its continued success. Under the leadership of Kaileigh Newman, the district's director of visual arts, the visual arts department has consistently pushed the boundaries of what's possible, inspiring creativity, fostering social-emotional learning, and connecting students to their community and beyond.

Rigorous Standards and Exceptional Achievements

The TAEA District of Distinction Award is a testament to Aldine ISD's commitment to excellence. To earn this prestigious recognition, the district had to meet a rigorous 14-point rubric over the 2023-2024 school year, a feat accomplished by only 94 districts out of the more than 1,200 eligible, placing Aldine ISD in the top 5.5% of districts in the state for art education. This sixth-year distinction is a remarkable achievement, solidifying Aldine ISD's position as one of the top 1.3% of visual art programs in Texas.

Aldine ISD's success is a collaborative effort, with the district's art teachers playing a pivotal role in inspiring creativity and fostering student growth. "I have to laud our art teachers for their efforts to inspire creativity, foster social-emotional learning, and connect learners to their community and beyond," said Kaileigh Newman. "And, of course, I have to acknowledge our students. We are so proud of our talented students."

Nealy Holley, the chair of the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA, praised the district's efforts, stating, "Aldine ISD has set a high standard for visual arts advocacy, integrated visual arts curriculum, and encouraged creativity, community participation, and student growth."As Aldine ISD prepares to be honored at the TAEA Fall Conference on November 15, 2024, the district's visual arts program stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together to support and nurture the creative talents of its students.
