Almaty Hosts Archery Training Camp for World Nomad Games

Almaty, the cultural capital of Kazakhstan, is gearing up to host a field training camp for the country's traditional archery (sadak atu) national team. The camp is part of the team's preparation for the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games (WNG), a prestigious international event showcasing the traditional sports and cultural heritage of nomadic peoples.

The training camp has welcomed 12 athletes, including 10 selected and 2 reserve members, with a balanced representation of 6 males and 4 females. The national team is led by senior coach Dias Akhmetov, who is confident in their ability to achieve success at the World Nomad Games.

The training regimen at the camp is intense, as the athletes have only a few days left before the start of the World Nomad Games. Akhmetov emphasizes that the team is now intensifying their training and exploring new methods to hone their skills. The Sadak Atu Federation, which oversees the traditional archery team, is a member of Kazakhstan's National Sports Association. This association encompasses a diverse range of traditional sports, including baige (horse racing), kokpar (a form of polo), assyk atu (bone shooting), zhamby atu (target archery), tenge ilu (coin grabbing), and kusbegilik (falconry).
