With the support of his mother, Jessica Bjorn, Anders has turned a mundane chore into a thriving business, providing a valuable service to his community while learning valuable life skills.

Cleaning Up the Neighborhood, One Trash Can at a Time

Anders Bjorn spends four days a week transforming the appearance of Van Alstyne's trash cans. Armed with a power washer, cleaning solutions, and a determined spirit, he meticulously scrubs and disinfects each can, restoring them to a pristine condition. "You just get to clean a trash can that's dirty, and you get to see a way better trash can than it was before," Anders explains, taking pride in his work.

Mastering the Art of Trash Can Transformation

To ensure a thorough and efficient cleaning process, Anders and his mother have developed a systematic approach. "We got him some like grease cleaner that he goes in and sprays them with first, so that he can get it off easier. Sprays it down with a power washer, wears gloves, sometimes a mask if it's really bad, and eye goggles," Jessica Bjorn shares, outlining the steps her son takes to tackle even the most stubborn grime.

Turning a Chore into a Profitable Venture

Anders' entrepreneurial spirit shines through as he charges per lid for his trash can cleaning services, working for 30 minutes to an hour per job. His mother, Jessica, believes this experience is not only teaching him valuable skills but also instilling a sense of responsibility and work ethic. "This has taught him perseverance. When he's hot and tired and exhausted, and he knows he has more jobs to do, he's got to push through, and he can't just give up on himself. Cause he knows he's getting paid for this," she explains.

Expanding the Reach of a Thriving Business

With his initial success in the Van Alstyne neighborhood, Anders hopes to expand his customer base beyond the local area, providing his services to a wider community. "The more money I have for college, and like meals and big purchases or little purchases," he says, outlining his aspirations for the future. By leveraging his entrepreneurial skills and a strong work ethic, Anders is well on his way to achieving his goals and making a positive impact in his community.
