Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic, halved

  • 1 12 ounce bottle dry hard cider or 1 1/2 cups apple cider

  • 2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

  • 8 ounce Swiss cheese, shredded (2 cups)

  • 8 ounce Gruyére cheese, shredded (2 cups)

  • 8 ounce sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (2 cups)

  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch

  • Assorted Dippers

Directions

  1. Rub garlic on bottom and sides of a heavy 4- to 5-qt. pot; discard garlic.

  2. Add cider and hot pepper sauce to pot; bring to a simmer over medium. In a large bowl toss cheeses with cornstarch; add to cider a small handful at a time, whisking constantly until melted before adding more.

  3. Transfer to fondue pot and serve with dippers. Serves 8.
