Baked Cherry Oatmeal
Ingredients

3 cup regular rolled oats

¼ cup steel-cut oats

2 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

2 cup fat-free milk

1 - 1 ½ cup dried tart or sweet cherries

½ cup unsweetened cinnamon applesauce
-
⅓ - ½ cup packed brown sugar or honey

1 egg, lightly beaten

2 tablespoon melted butter or vegetable oil
Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 2-qt. soufflé dish or casserole. In prepared dish stir together regular oats, steel-cut oats, baking powder, and salt. Stir in remaining ingredients.

Bake 20 minutes; stir. Bake 20 minutes more or until top is light brown.
Tip
If desired, top each serving with a drizzle of honey and a little milk, a spoonful of vanilla low-fat yogurt, and/or a sprinkle of toasted sliced almonds, brown sugar, chia seeds, crushed flaxseeds, and/or nutmeg.
